Recommendation for using Vitamin C for pregnant women varies

A medical team lead by Dr Daniel Roth of The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, say some questions about the effectiveness of taking vitamin D supplements during pregnancy will surely remain unanswered for now.
It is known that Vitamin D helps maintain calcium levels in the body to keep bones, teeth and muscles healthy. Also taking vitamin D supplements may also help protect against heart disease, cancer, respiratory infections and asthma -- as well as conditions related to pregnancy, such as preeclampsia and gestational diabetes.
However, results are conflicting and recommendations vary widely among medical and professional organisations for pregnant women. For example, the World Health Organization does not advise healthy women to take vitamin D supplements during pregnancy.
